There used to be quite a craze for fancy screensavers a while back but not so much as now. More often than not .scr files are a gateway to viruses.. Does anyone else think they're just another unnecessary adornment ?

Yes. I find that (under Power Settings) having the monitor turn off (go blank) after ten minutes is better. Personal opinion. Some people like seeing fancy mazes or such on the screen, or, having the password lock engaged.
