What is the real difference between the different versions of Vista ? Ultimate,Home basic, home premium...Ae they just for show or is there a notable variation between them?

I have a Home Basic and Premium in my house and the only difference I can truly notice is that Basic does not have Aero. It makes all your windows look nice and has a nice window scrolling system.
