I had to reinstall windows xp i had a Trojan. well I bought this comp used and apparently i don't have a audio drive because i don't have a volume button and I cant control the settings. same w/ my display I cant change my resolution. What do I need to do? My brother said to download drivers but which ones and where? I tired 3 diff ones from download.com

See if this scan will ID your computer and then look for drivers:

Audio & Video (or Graphics).

If you have an independent Graphics Card (off the motherboard) then we will have to try and ID that separately.

Graphics drivers. You are going to have to try and ID your graphics card. Most likely either an ATI or nVidia based card.

Look in your Device Manager for either "Display adapter" or "Other devices"

You can open the Device Manager via right clicking My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager.

Or you could try by trial and error from either ATI or nVidia.

If the download cannot find the hardware then try another until one "fits".

I looked in device manager i didn't find it or i don't know what I was looking for. I'm not comp smart. Then I tried to go to those websites and i have no idea what version i need. I really need my resolution fixed for my husbands band i make there Cd's and i cant use my CD printer w the res. the way it is. We need to ID your Graphics Card. This is problematic because your computer does not detect it as it needs drivers to see it. To get the drivers we need to ID the Graphics Card etc.

One way is to open the computer and look at the card. It should have a label stenciled on it.

Your monitor will be plugged into the Graphics Card which sits in a slot perpendicular to the motherboard.

If you are not comfortable opening the computer there are a few programs we can try. One is Unknown Devices 1.2.

This is a .zip file so it needs to be extracted after download.
