WMP 10 streaming issues
I have 2 computers running XP. In one of my computers WMP 10 won't stream videos from websites. I have searched for the solution to this problem from microsoft and thought I found the solution but it didn't work.
Ok, I subscribe to nascar.com and used to view streaming videos and audio both of which do not work now. I also noticed that I cannot view any videos from other websites now. When I try to open a video, it opens but plays no video. I right click on the window and click on error details and it says "source filter for this file could not be loaded" error code 80040241. I looked up this error code on Microsoft and they had a hotfix download for this and it was for XP. I tried to download it and when I run it it tells me that it is not compatible with my version of Windows. HUH? I have the right version. I found all this here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...241_0x00000000
Now I got on to my other computer and everything works great and both computers are identical, to see if the options were set the same. I opened a video on nascar.com and while it was playing I right clicked the window, clicked options, and found the menu is totally different. Now I'm thinking that my Media Player on my computer has been hijacked by some kind of spyware or virus, which have not been detected by my Mcafee. So how do I get rid of the problem? Can I delete WMP10? I do not want WMP11. I'm stuck.
Everything is up to date with the latest updates on WMP10, Java, Shockwave, etc.
Any help would so greatly be appreciated. Hope this hasn't stumped everyone.

I would upgrade to WMP11 but if you don't want to you can download WMP10 on top of itself. This sometimes fixes issues.
