document extensions
hey guy i have a quick question
i have files i need to open to view the content.
file extension a pretty funky..lol
is there an apps that could open all kinds of files?
the extension are
.file
.bat
.bif
.dat
.so

hmm. you might have to be a little more specific on what file that is though. as in... ".file" extensions vary quite alot from what i know. what i sometimes do is i force the program to open it. like... "open with" a program that you believe should be able to open it. or maybe change the extension manually. it works at times but no guarantees.
Jephree or Neal will probably be able to give a better suggestion but until they reply you can maybe try this out.
oh yeah. u tried searching the extensions online?

ya i have searched it and they don't say what app opens it...
thx

Just some info on the types:
In brief:
.file = no file
.bat = DOS batch
.bif = archive
.dat = data
.so = shared object
In detail:
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?ext...&Search=Search
You should be able to open a .bat file in any text editor.
As to index.dat there is this program: http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=P...index.datsuite
As to the others use the option to let Windows Search when you try to open.
Why do you want to open these files? In most cases they will just be code.
