just bought second hand pc and would like to clean hard drive anyone know of good freeware

It would be better to go to format and take everything out if you bought it second hand but make sure first you have all the disks to reinstall the programs that came with the computer. If it is an xp you will have the disk which will do the format for you so you don't have to go typing it in as we did in win 98. Mine will do format but my daughters just fixes everything. We both have HP and win xp ok hope that helps. The only good feature would be get a free download at download dot com for ad-aware but my daughter does not like it as she says it blocks her anime. I like it myself and we both have norton but our other daughter tells us she will not buy norton she uses avg which is a free download as norton takes over the computer. You need a firewall which comes with windows sp download and a virus protection which is norton or avg. good luck
