    unable to send attachments

For a day or so, I have been unable to send attachments.

Normal mail is OK - End up getting server timed out/disconnection error

Contacted my (professional) hosting company who say all is well but still no go.

I am on outlook 2003 XP SP2 and McAfee

    Any suggestions ?

    thanks

    Hi Philj,

Did you do an update via Microsoft to Office around that time? Also, I am nor sure about McAfee [I use Kaspersky], but it might not hurt to make sure that McAfee is allowing attachments to be sent. Can you receive attachments?

The other option open that I can think of is to go to add/remove programs and as if you are going to remove office, do a repair install of it. This may require your disk.

I hope some of this helps, or at least gives an idea....is it any attachment, or a particular type?

Cheers orphelia, thanks for the prompt response. In answer

windows update - not sure - will check

Mcafee - going to have a poke around the settings as I can receive attachments OK

Full office reinstall - may try for a repair

Its a bog standard word doc of around 144k

will post back further for anyone searching in future

and the answers is..... to temporarily turn off the mcafee privacy service and turn it straight back on afterwards

Hope this is useful to someone at a later date

    Philj,

I must thank you for coming back and letting us know what caused the problem. It possibly wouldn't hurt to contact McAfee about this problem as many businesses rely on Outlook, and you shouldn't have to disable "privacy".

I am glad you have it sorted. AVG did a similar thing with me for a while......same scenario......but they did fix their email scanner.

Thank you again, and I hope you drop by if you have any further problems.....
