Need help w undeleting a CD-RW
Hi gang,
Not sure if this is the right forum...
I moved a CD-full of images from the HD to a CD-RW to clear up some space on it... accidentally, I erased all those images from the CD-RW...
Can anyone recommend a utility that will enable me to undelete those image files from the cd-rw...
1. I'm running Win XP pro
2. CD was burned using Easy CD Creator 5.x
3. CD was erased with Win XP...
I've tried BadCopy Pro but it won't do the trick...
Any help would be appreciated...

You can try this one http://www.naltech.com/
This one I use myself, you can download and try it to see if it recovers the ones you want but you have to buy to actually recover them http://www.voodoofiles.com/15339

Thanks much for your reply and input.
I tried both programs...
The first one couldn't find any deleted files on the CD-RW. I wish I knew how this erase operation works. It seems to be diffrent than the simple deletion of the first letter of the file or directory name... apparently it deletes all the data itself bit by bit otherwise I can't see why it failed to recognize those deleted files.
The second program (Recover My Files) is apparently, not designed to work with CD-RWs at all. I wouldn't mind using it to recover those same files from the HD except, that I have only one HD and it's not advisable to save the recovered data on the same drive...
Wonder if the program would let me save the data on a locally mounted xDrive (online service)...
Any other ideas would be appreciated...

have a look at this:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html
you can run it from a floppy too because its so small.

Thanks. I've tried it already. Nothing! It can't see any data/erased files...
I talked to Data Mechanix (a data recovery service)... they charge between $300-600 !!!
but they claim that they can do it... they have very good reputation...
Fortunately, the erased data is not worth that much...
Still looking...

Did you use a quick erase method on the cd? What happens if you put the cd in, go to explorer and right click. Can you select previous volumes?
I found this method that someone had used after they quick erased with Nero.

I've no idea what this quick erase option is... I used Easy CD Creator 5.x to write this CD and Win XP "Erase this CD-RW" to erase it... I don't even know if Easy CD Creator has any erase command... at least, I couldn't find any...
Open a folder and navigate to the CD-RW drive... if there's a re-writable CD in the drive and if you click on File (menu), you'll see the erase command...
It seems that it's performing a thorough erase...
If I put the CD in the drive, Windows sees nothing! No volume, no data... Do you happen to know where I can find some tech reading on how Win XP is doing the erase?
Thanks a million for the two links... went thru the first one... it's damn interesting. I'll read the whole thread soon and be back with some feedback...
