    prevx driver

I've wanted to try out prevx but something is stopping the driver installing(so say support). But thats as far as the help has got.
I've disabled my NIS2005 and everything else to no avail and I'm wondering should I uninstall nis first.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Well nothing i did helped! Anyway it has been suggested to me if i want to use this sort of 'defence' to try a simpler 'sandbox' type app or 'buffer area' Can you really use these programs without using av, firewall and spyware as well? Your comments are much appreciated.

It is likely that either NIS or your existing anti-virus is interfering with the installation, have yoiu totally uninstalled NIS( a worthless and troublesome app IMO), including checking registry settings for it? If you can reply in detail to the steps you have taken we can go from there.

A very expensive 'worthless app' to some as well, eh jazzman, (smile.) Its not funny when you have ccapp running at 120.13Mbytes, cc.evtmgr at 28, ccproxy at 30.11 and ccsetmgr at 48.34! and thats not the complete list. Also there are the odd runtime and generic host process errors when shutting down(which according to support 'does not affect your protection')LOL! But to be fair I've been shown how to get these right down by changing some permissions(permit all/automatic, etc) and have not had an error for 3mths now-but how about others that use nis-support is terrible. Oh and Norton bauks if you have a previous version, you have to get every last detail out manually(Nortons SymNRT does NOT.)

Pah! Anyway no I didnt uninstall totally cos i did'nt want to rock the boat, but I was tending to think that way. Thats what you'd recommend? I'm tring something at the mo my brother recommended but its beta, and i'm no whizz so im not completely happy, also its not compatible with prevx.

that's what i meant aboiut editing the registry..lol..

What I would recommend is that if you are happy and protected by your current setup, stick with it. It is likely that NIS is the one interfering with the setup, if you decide to keep trying to install it, my recommendation would be to completely uninstall NIS first. I didn't mean to step on any toes as far as NIS was concerned, it is just that my experience with it on other people's computers is that it causes many more problems than it solves, and it dominates resources leading to a slower, less productive, operating system.
