Hi does anyone have a reference to this, I'd love to find out what this is on my machine.
Author Ice. Software DoNotInstall.
what is the path to the file?Originally Posted by kollos
I saw something like that on my brother's computer today. I installed AVG, rebooted and AVG sent up a big red screen saying it was in the boot record. I've never seen AVG do that before the OS was even loaded. Anyway, I did write it down (the paper is at his house) I'm sure it said DoNotInstall, but I cannot remember if the "Ice" was there.
Did an AntiVirus program detect that for you, kollos?
Oops! Sorry...My bro read back to me what was written on the paper and it was not that at all!I guess our mind is playing tricks on us.
ops:
I am going on "I think" right now, but I am quite certain it is fax applications. The name seems familiar to me for this type of thing, but as I no longer use it, I haven't got a reference.....
Have you done an online virus scan of your entire computer? IMO, Kaspersky is the best..Panda 2nd, Trend 3rd.

This one takes like forever, but it will even find things in archives that even AVG misses.
Please let us know how you go...

Hi, thanks all. All scans up untill then came back clean. It was just something that came up in Macecrafts reg cleaner under add/remove programs.
I have this entry within my registry:
HKLM\Software\ICE\DoNotInstall
This entry was initially detected on my system via the Jouni Vuorio RegCleaner 4.3
If you sneak a peek at the keys, you may find the following (at least, I did):
(Default) - value not set
{6CF9C6C0-54E5-4668-85C1-C10F63C40155} - value 1
{7C8BB31C-E09E-4c7d-BBF1-45E33B467FE1} - value 1
{F38FA38A-7E5A-4209-88ED-4DE21CD20EEF} - value 1
I googled the keys, and discovered that each seems related to Hewlett-Packard software - specifically Digital Imaging
So, might you have a Hewlett-Packard scanner perhaps?
My best guess is that this entry must be incidental to the device's installation.
