Ren...Have you installed this?
I just installed it. SpywareGuard had a fit (i let it continue) and 2 search bars popped up on my screen!
Talk about having to run a quick HJT scan to remove them :bawling:
And to top it all, my internet is no faster!
It didn't work huh? I try to stay away from applications that say they "boost" or "optimize". Sometimes it's just hard to resist trying them though.Originally Posted by Vidster

Me too, Blizey. I havnt tried anything like that sice the first time I installed somthing to speed up DSL connection and I thought it had worked for about 10 mins, after that my connection kept going down!.Originally Posted by Blizey
Yes! I once installed something to "optimize XP". Well it didn't...my machine went bonkers instead. For some reason I had copied it to a backup disc. Later on I came across it and thought that I must need it and re-installed it again!  Duh!
I would agree with you, but I have used one program that is real good and that is XP Smoker. It tweaks your windows settings so windows runs faster and it also tweaks your internet settings! The first time I used it, it make my couputer run about 3x to 4x faster.
The only way to make XP run faster without adding any hardware is to disable services that are not needed.
I have found a few registry tweaks but they don't really make that much difference
Blackviper's guide to disabling services.
