    Invalid product key?

This is a strange one :?

I bought this laptop at the end of December, brand new from Currys. It came with all the recovery disk's etc...
I went to the Microsoft site tonight to install their anti spyware program and while there, i thought i'd get my XP validated (being as though we're all going to have to do it soon anyway).
Well it couldn't do it automatically so i answered all the questions they asked and entered my product key.

It then told me i have an 'Invalid Product Key'!.

Has anyone had anything like this before or has anyone got any ideas why this has happened?.

It did offer to give me a new one and install it for me but I'm not 100% sure that's all that would have been installed .

Thanks for the number Tyler. I'll try it when someone is there .

Looking at that link you gave me, it could be something to be with it being an OEM version but i can't see how :?

Mine is also OEM, Vidster. So, I don't think that is the problem, because mine was validated. It's a little unsettling to think that it came back as an invalid key. It's probably just a glitch of some sort.

I would be more worried that Microsoft was monitoring me .

Why would you worry about Microsoft?? Never mind. You really don't want anybody "monitoring" you. Especially, if they are big, powerful and rich.

Well, I never read their privacy statement about the validation. But just think for a few minutes.

Your a huge programmer and in charge of serveal companies. You find something that probably pirated your software, you would want to stop them!

But we all know Vidster didn't pirate it. But nevermind that post. Let's just keep it on Vidster's problem.
