Problems with New Windows Live Messenger 2009

    Hi

Im not sure if I am in the right section so I apologise if I am not.

Last night I downloaded the new Windows Live Messenger 2009, and since then, I simply cannot log into it. It says signing in, but it simply shows the 2 little men spinning round and does nothing. Whilst this is happening, I cannot go online as the internet gets stuck, and my email will not send and receive. I tried doing a system restore, but it made my pc go all funny so I undid that. I tried to download the previous live messenger but it is telling me to uninstall the new one.

I went to add or remove programs but for some reason I cannot see it there!!!
    HELP!!

To remove WLM 2009, use easy uninstaller. You can download it from here Easy Uninstaller - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I think my 11yo daugther's problem is slightly worse than the above. She tried installing Messenger onto her new laptop, but, was getting the following message "80040154". She couldn't find Messenger in Control Panel Uninstall to uninstall it, so she went looking and found the directory in which it lives and deleted that. This is where I come in...

I can't re-install it because Windows Installer thinks it's already installed. Does anyone know what registry keys need to be deleted so that I can re-install it ???

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi 80040154,

Try this... I found this here: "A fix for Windows Live Messenger sign-in issues | Ed Bott’s Windows Expertise |"

Open Regedit and delete the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\ Policies

I downloaded Windows live... after a few days i tried to log on but it kept sayin there was a problem with my internet, but there wasn't any problem because i could still use my internet. So i uninstalled Windows live and now i can't install back and this is the only msn messenger i can use on Vista.

When I tried to install it back, its takes ages(2 hours) and the thing still stays on 0%???

What should I do? Please Please Please Please Please Please HELP!

    Try cleaning the Registry:

    Freeware

This tool will create a backup if it should be needed.

If that doesn't help try this Installer Cleaner:

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

I tried to sign in to open my msn messenger this morning but got a message - You must install newer version of messenger to continue . I did this but after it had gone through the process of installation to 100% it started a rolling back of programmes "whatever that means" On completion of the process a message said the installation was unsuccessful . I have un-installed and repeated the process 3 times which takes about 30 minutes each time. I have googled this problem and it appears that there are lots of people having similar problems. I know we all need to upgrade our systems from time to time but it is so annoying that windows / microsoft put these programmes out without thoroughly testing them to make sure they work, especially when the previous version worked perfectly fine and without giving the option or choice to keep the old or install the new version

Any suggestions or advice on this problem would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Daz2009
