Question Error accessing the system registry

I am trying to open a CD. When I put it in I get this message. What does this mean? This CD works fine on my old HP computer, but with my new Dell I get this.

When I click OK, I get this.

Then nothing. How can I get this CD to work on my new computer?

    Thanks,
    Travis

Is this a software CD or a music CD or what? Also what version of windows is on the HP & what version of windows is on the Dell?

I guess it would be an "or what", LOL.

It is a CD with cartoons on it. The old HP was Windows XP, the new Dell is Windows Vista. My Uncle has the same computer (Dell) and operating system (Vista) and it works on his computer.

Looks like the Auto run program in the cd for whatever reason is not compatible for whatever reason with your version of media player in Windows XP. You might consider deleting your current media player in ADD REMOVE Programs and install this:

    Huh?

It works fine on my old HP computer with Windows XP.

It works fine on my Uncles Dell computer with Windows Vista.

I have the same computer as my Uncle, but it will not work on mine.

Just because a program works in other computers doesn't mean it will work in others as each computer Operating System is not a cloned system. Registry entries, software installs,etc.... make every computer unique to its previous owner or current owner. Even running the same operating systems. The CD you're trying to run has its own way of opening media player and from your post media player doesn't like it. Does music, data,Live ISO CD's work on this drive? Is your only problem with this CD?

What's a codec? If it will make the CD work, tell me how to get one please.

Codecs are for viewing videos in media players. I'm assuming your cartoon cd is a video cd and not just pictures, correct me if I'm wrong.
