I am making a CD for distribution that has a number of .PDF files on it. One file is a “Home Page” with a menu consisting of links to the other files. I would like to have that file come on automatically when the CD is inserted.

I have a commercial CD that has a similar group of files. It also has a file called “Start.exe”. A tiny minimized version of it comes up when the CD is loaded with the Auto-play mode on. If you click on its MAXIMIZE button, a large .PDF home page with links to the files appears. I have had little luck finding a pre-fabricated Start.exe file of that kind available for downloading. Or a program that can make such a file. Does anyone know where such a thing can be found? I don’t have the programming skills to make one from scratch. (I have a PC with Microsoft VISTA and Acrobat 8 Pro)

Yup, it can be done easily. I assume you have been looking for a premade Start file, but you need an autorun file.
There is a program called 1st AutoRun Express that will make a file - it will even let you have an icon for the cd ^^
It lets you chose a file on the disc to open automatically when its inserted.

Thank you for your help. It was exactly what I was looking for. When you pointed out that I should be looking at "AutoRun" programs, I found a lot of them and yours was the best for my needs. Harold
