    printing problems/Software

    Hallo

Over the last 6 months or so I have been having trouble when printing from MS Publisher 2000, Printmaster 11, Sierra PrintArtist and other dtp type programs. I run Windows XP with SP2 and an HP Deskjet 840c. I find that intermittently, although now it seems to be every second or third printout with these programs it only prints a part of the page, sometimes 2/3rds, sometimes a half and even just 1 cm on occasions. this is getting expensive on both phot paper and ink. I have contacted HP and gone through all their instructions, downloaded new drivers (although they were the same as I already had). Can anyone come up with a solution please Previously there were no problems.

    Many thanks

i had an 840c once, and i had that same problem. i went though loads of things, but in the end i ended up chucking the printer, assuming it was a fault. it sounds like something wrong with the spooler, but if you tried reinstalling drivers, then i dont know... it is an old model now, so it could be had it :/

Thanks for that - yes it is about 7/8 years old and has served me well and I've been thinking about a new one but you know how it is ....... there are so many out there to choose from that Ijust don't know where to start. thinking about aan allin one but then will I get such good colour work, I do a lot of dtp Ah well things are never straight forward. I had thught it might be the spooler it seems that way. These things are fine (like a car) until they start going wrong.

    Many thanks

Yeh, those 840c's were brilliant little things.. I have seen multifunction printers that produce good prints, but lots which dont. Just steer clear away from lexmark.. HP ones are pretty good, but obviously they do all different models.. Epsons seem to be good on real/original catridges, but they arent all that reliable. Also, Canon do some good models, but it all depends all how much you want to spend...
