    Norton partition Magic

I had a crash of my entire hard drive and had to reinstall windows xp so I reinstalled xp and just now got it all back to how I like it but I had made two partitions one of a base xp and one of the one I wanted the way I had it before after I got the current installation the way I like it I deleted the other windows and formated the partition which at the time was D:

a little back ground I have 2 hard drives one with Vista.
one with 2 partitions one for XP sp2 slipstreamed from my old system and one for the XP similar to how I had it before it crashed

my problem is I want to delete the first partition D: and I have partition magic but I didn't use it to create my partitions in the first place I just used XP I thought it would be faster. But when I go to delete the partition I can't norton won't let me I've tried a few times this is a view of what I'm talking about.

I don't know why Norton shows Unallocated. That in general means it detects no format.

I use GParted which is both FREE and BOOTS thus working outside of Windows.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway if you use GParted: Save this download:

    http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gpa...2&big_mirror=0

This is an ISO file. You will need an ISO burning program to burn it. It cannot be burnt as data as it is an image.

If you use Nero there is an option called "Create Disk Image".

If you do not have Nero you can use this free program:

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

This will add the burning option to your right click options or shell.

With Nero just point it to the downloaded ISO. With the other recorder just right click the ISO and choose Burn Disk Image.

A new blank CD is required.

After the burn this CD will be a boot disk and will boot GParted.

Verify that your CD drive is set to boot prior to the hard drive and boot the CD.

There are some basic tutorials on the functions and use of GParted here:

    http://gparted.sourceforge.net/documentation.php

    -------------------------------

Also just to note there are plenty of image hosts out there that do not BLAST advertising nor page redirections at you.

PhotoBucket is a nice one: http://smg.photobucket.com/

so what can I do to delete the partition because if I try to create a new on in norton it only used 20gb when it should be at elast a 30gb parttition that's what windows formatted it as.

But I want it to be twice that much like around 60gb so I can put movies and games and such on it and it doesn't affect my windows partition.

    I would use GParted.

If you have any questions when using that please ask or view their documentation:

I have never used Partition Magic and do not use Norton software.

If you want to use that then perhaps another member will be along with advice there.
