Firefox problems (+explorer question)
Hi everyone,
About five weeks ago, I must have had too many tabs open on firefox and it had to end itself, nor could I reconstruct the last session because every time it got around to uploading the last tab, it would freeze. First, I went to www.firefox-browser.de chat. Someone there advised me to start a new firefox profile and to migrate my settings to there. Problem: I am a computer novice and nothing transferred. The files, most notably "history" are still there in my computer, but I do not know what to open them with or to get them into one of the profiles. In any case, this did not solve the problem. Reinstalling firefox also did not help. The only thing that helped was to unplug my DSL cable and to open firefox, close some of the windows running, and to reopen it. Then I had to take a break from Firefox for a while, because it would "perform an illegal operation" every time I opened it and viewed more than five pages (regardless of whether they were on the same tab or not). So... i started to use explorer instead. It has some cool features, like being able to have several main pages, and being able to program it to reconstruct a session. Now firefox is working again.
My main problem is that I want access to my "history" (or what's left of it) again! How do I obtain this?
Re: explorer, I want to get my history to show in the sidebar and I cannot figure out how to do it.

When you're referring to "explorer", I'm guessing that you're talking about Internet Explorer 7. If not, please clarify. The toolbar button to switch the History pane on and off is a picture of a clock with a green arrow going round it (at least, that's what it is in Internet Explorer 6). Do you see that?

There is an option in Firefox to import your history I think, although I don't run Firefox so I can't check. Is there a File menu in Firefox. If there is, check for an Import option on the File menu. Alternatively, it might be found on a Tools menu.

Yes, I found out how to open my history in the sidebar of explorer. I am still having problems with both browsers, however:
Firefox freezes up on me almost as soon as I open it.
Explorer freezes up with less frequency.

Thank you all. This is an old post. I still do not know what I did to deserve the programmes crashing on me, but I do know how to import histories now, and how to show the history in the side panel on any browser with this option.
Thanks again,
Janelle
