I am interested in using animated wallpapers and screen savers, so keep searching for them on the web. Is it a good practice to use them. Does it harm my PC in any manner.

Interesting Wallpapers and Screensaver offers on the net are notorious for carrying adware and spyware, so you really have to be careful what you download. Read all terms and conditions and installation options, don't allow third party sponsor programs, toolbars and other little annoyances and nasties to be installed. My advice to most people however is don't bother, it isn't really worth it because aswell as being risky (of course depending on where you download from), wallpapers and screensavers with high animation content seriously hamper the performance of your PC.

If you still want to give this stuff a go, one company I can recommend is StarDock who create a cracking range of apps to customise your PC.
