Kodak DX3600 Digital camera
Hi
I've had this camera for several years and transferring pictures to my PC has never been a problem until now!
The kodak software no longer recognises the camera. When I open the transfer software there is no longer a box to tick for "kodak camera."
I'm running win xp and the camera appears in the device manager,I've checked for updated driver but none available, although I can't really see that a later driver is needed. the PC plays a sound when the camera is switched on and again when camera switched off. it seems to me that the PC knows the camera is there but the software does'nt.(It's a usb connection)
I run spybot and AVG free, but always have and there's been no problem before.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

Re-installing the program is always an option.

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry!!! Should have said I've tried that.
I also downloaded later kodak software and tried that but same result.I can't understand why it works for years then suddenly it can't find the camera.
Thanks

After googling your Model #, it seems that you are not the only one with issues. Unfortunately, there are so many problems thats its hard to isolate what is causing yours, so lets start with some of the common ones.
Your running SP2 for XP home?? i assume?
Do you have a program called "InCD" running with startup? Seems these 2 programs can not run together.
Have you installed any new updates or other software when things stopped working?
Another thing they recommend doing is installing the newest version of the EasyShare software, which can be found here:http://www.kodak.com/global/en/servi...q-path=742/930
Lets start there and see where this leads us.

Thanks
Running win xp pro.
Incd not on startup.I've tried the latest kodak software but it makes no difference.I have not used camera since the summer and have probably installed other software and updates since then but exactly what i can't remember.
I thought of restoring to the last date the camera worked but system restore won't let me go back further than last month. (is this another problem?)I read some of the articles you found via google and they seem to say that the camera should appear on " my computer" mine doesn't although it appears on device manager and is apparently working properly, (not from where I'm sitting!!!!!!)
any more ideas please!

Ok, reading thoroughly through a few more other links i found through google, next questions would be be:
1) what software do you use for your CD Burner (InCD, Roxio .. etc.)
2) By any chance have you installed Windows Blinds?
The Kodak website also recommends disabling Anti-virus software while installing software (Why this would CAUSE an issue on existing functioning software to stop working, dont know) and they also recommend cleaning up your start-up programs.
This idea might be a long shot, but the Kodak website also mentions going into the device manager and changing the setting on the "Power Management" tabs for the USB ROOT HUB, so that the computer doesnt control this connection.

Thanks again.
I use Nero for cd burning.
The initial installation was from the kodak cd rom and I have reinstalled from this.
Tried changing usb hub setting but it makes no difference.
Going to try installing on a different pc and see what happens! I'll let you know.
Thanks

Back again!
Installed software and camera driver on 2 pcs
Worked on one, not on the other?
Looks like I'll have to bribe my son to use his PC when I want to d/l from camera.
Still trying to get my PC to accept transfer, any more ideas please?
Thanks

Well, if its working fine on 1 pc but not the other, its going to be a matter of narrowing down software installed on PC's. Any common programs on both PCS wont be an issue.
Are both Pc's same version of XP?
The Kodak website and other links i found on net seem to blame CD burning software for this problem. If your ok with using your son's PC to do this then ok, but it doesnt really fix your problem, just bypassing it now

Thanks
you're right it doesn't solve my problem.
I've tried on 3 pcs.
2 run xp pro,the other runs xp home. It's xp home that it works on.BUT I think this is just a coincidence.
The other one running xp pro is a spare which only has windows and kodak software installed.(It's not connected to internet) but won't recognise the camera.
In fact the symptoms are exactly the same as on my pc except that although the camera is shown in device manager it doesn't beep when connecting or disconnecting the camera.
There's no burning software on the pc.
Thanks
