    bidirectional documents

I upgraded lately to winXP and word2003, after working a long time at Word97
I read, edit and compose documents in european languages and in Hebrew which is written right to left.
Word97 usually recognized the writing direction of the document, i.e. it opened an English document with Latin font and left to right cursor, and a Hebrew docunent with Hebrew font and right to left cursor.
word 2003 doesn't recognize the direction of the document and it opens even the English documents always right to left with Hebrew font.
how can I configure the program so that it will recognize the direction of the document, as did word97?
    please advise
    thanks

I have no experience in this area so I am only guessing and throwing up suggestions/thing to try.

    See:
Switching between Hebrew and English - if this page seems useful, note the link at the top to the Word version - it is very well done.

    Enable editing of multiple languages.

How to enable right-to-left language support - note the sections on "Using localized versions", the Office Proofing Tools Kit, and Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI).
