How do I wipe the HD of a laptop?

Im going to sell it on ebay for parts as the motherboard has gone.

What do I need to do?

if your selling it for parts remove the hard drive.

you can get connectors to connect it to a PC and slave the drive and wipe it that way

Or, if you have the original manufacturer's recovery CD, start it up with that CD inserted - there's usually an option to wipe EVERYTHING off of the hard disk and put it back on from scratch. Be careful if you do that though - selling a hard disk with Windows already installed means that you need to supply the COA with it.
