Hi everyone

I work for a very small company and we would like to be able to keep in contact with our regular customers by email as well as do small marketing campaigns from time to time.

Would anyone know if there is a free or competively priced software program we could buy that would allow us to do that.

Secondly would Outlook Express or MS Outlook have this facility?

Note that sending an email from Outlook Express with loads of recipients in the BCC field will almost certainly mean that it ends up in the recipient's Junk Email folder or will simply be deleted by their spam filter.

You can avoid this with Microsoft Outlook, which is much better for businesses. Store all of the recipients as Contacts (you can import them from spreadsheets, etc. if you need to) and then do a "mail merge" from that Contacts list. That ensures that everyone receives an email with their email address in the 'To' field and no-one else's address shown, making it look like an email sent only to that person as far as the spam filters are concerned. Also, because the emails are all sent individually, they can be customised to detect the person's actual name and automatically personalise each message with "Dear Bob" etc.

Whenever a small business talks to us about sending out email marketing, we always tell them to get Microsoft Outlook first.

Alternatively, there are specialist email marketing programs and services just for that purpose but they will be more costly.
