I have a Gateway computer and I am trying to install an OEM version of Office 2003 and I get a message that says "This is not a Gateway system"
It is a Gateway I have had for 2 years and Gateway was no help.
Is there a spot on the system that ID's the system and where is it located?

I don't know how they do it but I do know that Gateway have been verifying their systems in this way for years and years.

What confuses me is how did you get hold of an OEM copy of Office 2003 and why does it care that your PC is a Gateway?

OEM licences can only be legally sold with new hardware so how did you get it from Gateway if your PC is 2 years old? If you didn't buy it from Gateway, then I'm not surprised that they aren't being much help.

If you didn't buy Office 2003 from Gateway, then it should have no interest in what brand your PC is. Is the message definitely coming up in a message box with something in the title bar that indicates that Office 2003 is raising the error?
