    Post Camcorder editing on PC?

    Hi all.

As usual I don't know what I am doing.
I have a Sony digital video camera recorder, DCR-HC27E handycam, and I would like to edit the tapes on my PC. There is no mention of computers in the instruction manual.

    Can someone please advise.

    Thanks in advance.
    ATB Gary.

I have just checked out the "Camera capture question" thread. By the heading I thought it was to do with still cameras. Would this card be all that I would need?

It looks like your camera has a Composite video/audio output IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) and S-Video output, so you should be able to download the video to the computer via your computer Firewire port. After that, you would need a video editing program. Does your comouter have Firewire?

    Sorry for the delay.
How can I tell if I have Firewire?

I have just seen a thread entitled, "Firewire card" in the "A QUESTION TO THE COMMUNITY" forum.

I checked my "Device manager", and saw no reference to "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers", or "Firewire".

Am I correct in thinking that my PC doesn't have Firewire, and I need to install a Firewire card? If so, would the card mentioned in the "Camera capture question" thread in this forum be the correct one?
