Can anyone please advise me how to change a category Icon on SMF from the triangle to an image?

What triangle? I use SMF on 4 sites and don't know what you're talking about. URL?

the logo/icon for each board.
its like a triangle with a line through it- kind oif like a see-saw....

Oh right... just look at the images in the image file for the Theme and change them to what ever you want. Keep the image 'name' the same to save any editing elsewhere. You've only got to right click the image in question to see where it's held in the folders.
