    Norton start up message

Everytime I start up my computer I receive the following message

NORTON ANTIVIRUS has encountered an internal program error 0x80010213.

I press OK and the computer runs fine without any problems all day.

I've done a virus scan and everythings up to date.I'm running Windows XP

    Thanks

You don't say which product of Norton, you are running on your system.

Is this just Norton anti-virus, SystemWorks, or Other?

Try this, see if this tool identifies the problem.

Historically, I've been a big fan of Symantec and their Norton products but, sadly, I have to say that the 2007 products are dreadful. If you go to the online support pages, you'll probably find the suggested solution as "uninstall and reinstall". But it's worth having a look anyway. http://www.symantec.com. There's an online "detect and fix" troubleshooting tool that will try to automatically repair problems for you.

If the problem happens as soon as Windows starts, then it is likely that the problem is with the Auto-Protect feature (which runs in the background to virus-check any files that you use). You should ensure that you have an icon in the System Tray area (down in the bottom corner near your clock) that confirms that Auto-Protect is running.

Incidentally, this problem relates to software, not hardware, so I'm moving it to a more appropriate part of the forum.
