help in recovering dbx folders.. please.....

I have accidently wiped the partition on my hard drive. I used a program to recover some of my files, and I chose to recover my emails. I use Outlook Express 6. The program I used was called Recover my files. I did recover a bunch of email folders all with .dbx extensions.. but when it did that it did not retain the original folder names. But called them Recovered_Outlook_Express_1.dbx and Recovered_Outlook_Express_2.dbx and so on..

I have tried putting these into another indentity and importing.. I have also tried several different programs to open these dbx folders all with no success. I did have a back up and managed to restore my identity and all the folders from the last backup which was on the 6th December so lost about 6 weeks of emails..

I just need to be able to open the dbx folders to extract the missing emails. I don't need all the emails.. I have tried dragging and dropping the dbx files into outlook but it just attachs them to an outgoing emails so that did not work. I would be happy for any help I can get on this..

It is my belief that I need to know which folder is the one called folders.dbx.. if I could work out which one that is and rename it accordingly.. I think I could then put it into another identity and import it and some of the folders I can work out what they are by the size, so could rename those.

Any clues or help please on how to open and see the contents of these dbx files or a way to get them back into outlook express.. thanks

I am wondering if there may not be a program to do this...

Do you think if I recreate a new identity and somehow work out which folder is the folder .dbx.. and hopefully I can do it this way? Or perhpas by renaming them?
