    outlook messages- non attachment

When my friend attaches pictures to his outlook messages- they always go in the attachment section. Can we not drag them into the main window?

    We are running XP.

Normally, pictures are displayed within the main message body when the email is sent in HTML format but not when it is sent in Plain Text or in Rich Text Format (RTF). Get your friend to check the Options screen in the mail program to see which format his messages are being created in

Try opening a new email message. Select the Format menu. Towards the bottom of the Format menu, you might have options for Plain Text, Rich Text and/or HTML. Which is it set to? If it's Plain Text or HTML, then attachments will appear in a separate Attachments panel in the message. If it's Rich Text, they'll be embedded into the message wherever you insert them.
