hope I don't get told off ( sorry !! )

I need help with norton antivirus

we have had it on our computer for years now and do a weekly scan , do livedate when it tells us and renew it yearly BUT its saying the antivirus needs urgent attention ( it was only attention yesterday ) its saying my virus definations need updating and I need to run liveupdate but I keep doing it and it goes through the motions and says live update has been completed but in the anti virus control panel it still saying they haven't been updated since June 06 I don't think the antivirus package I'm using has support any longer so I'm stuck

can someone shed any light on this please
and then managed to sort it out myself

now I'm not as clever as I thought - 31.1.07

ran live update today as my computer told me to and I have the same problem

live update is telling me that its all updated but the control panel in norton is saying my virus definations need urgent attention.

what is going on ?? am I sorted or not

its driving me mad

tried to do what I did last time and go on the website and download the auto fix tool but the site just freezes on me
I'm running norton internet security 2003 yes I know its old but I'm so scared to update to a new version as when I tried to load norton on a friends computer I really mucked it up as I didn't realise I had to uninstall the older version first before putting the new one on
please be gentle with me I'm not too sure what I'm doing lol
