After trying to carry out an XP repair which failed, and actually made things worse, I don't have a system. However, I do have all the files.

I have recovered my e-mails. Is there a way to recover the files which hold the address book information to add them to a new Outlook Express setp.

Located the wab files. Copied them over to a test Outlook Express, and the address book was populated.
Then exported, and everything OK.
