outlook express - 2 e-mail addresses in 1 out
I have a situation which requires a change of e-mail addresses over a period of time. For example, the old e-mail address is (say) joe.bloggs@companyname.ispname.co.uk, and the new one is joe.bloggs@companyname.co.uk
I can easily set up the two to run under the same outlook express, but what I also want for ease of use by the person using it, is to only send out replies from either format using joe.bloggs@companyname.co.uk
I know that that at the top of the reply e-mail I have a choice of which account I can use to reply to a received e-mails, but is there a way to set up outlook express to specifically send out using joe.bloggs@companyname.co.uk without using the account dropdown
Any advise appreciated.

I don't think that there is (although I haven't had a good look around for it, to be honest). However, there is another option that might assist you. You can set the reply address on both accounts to be the new address that you are using. That way, even if the user sends out an email from the old address, the recipient will automatically reply to the new address. Then, if the user replies to that email, it will be from the new address - Outlook Express will always reply based on which of the user's addresses the email was sent to.
Oh, hold on a minute, you just want the default mail account setting don't you? Go to Tools > Accounts and set the new address as the default account. Doesn't that make all new emails use that address?

Hello DJNafey
The main problem was replying to received e-mail. Tried the reply e-mail address, and as you described it goes out as being sent from the old e-mail address, but if the receiver decides to reply to that e-mail it is sent back as the new e-mail address.
The default was OK for new e-mails.
The only other way I can think of which means a guarantee of not sending out from the old e-mail address is messy.
It means going back to the account dropdown. If an e-mail send is attempted using the old e-mail address it fails if I make the SMTP something completely wrong.
The e-mail would be stuck in the Outbox, and by double clicking on it, then selecting the new e-mail address from the dropdown, and clicking on send. It will send out using the new e-mail address.
