Ulead/Nero

Ulead/Nero
I have just changed from 98 to Xp and have downloaded some video from my Mini cam corder ( JVCam LIXV.660) to a file. This has been now moved to Ulead (supplied with the camcorder) for minor editing and is now on hard disc file. I wish to now burn a dvd using my Nero 6 (OEM) . The nero prog tells me the format is incorrect and refers to an update. This does not seem to be the answer. Ulead site tells me they no longer support my version despite the camera only being a year old. As a relative beginner, can anyone help please

Is the file in MPG format? i.e. yourvideofile.mpg

Thanks for reply, The file shows under 'properties' two items 1. Ulead video studio 7.0 document 15KB.2) and Nero media player, media files 335mb UPD File .
-
Further to my reply earlier, In looking at project properties in Ulead the following shows: File size 15.0Kb. File edit format...Microsoft AVI files (this seems to be an alterable item). NTSC non-drop frame(30fps). Microsoft AVI files.24bits. 640x480,30fps. frame based. XviD MPEG_4 codex. MPEG 1 layer 2 Audio. I am not sure what this all means, but thought it might be helpful ... Ian

i'm totally inept at video editing, but maybe you can try using this converter to convert the file into a more compatible video format. not how sure if the converter can recognise the file type but i think it's worth a shot.

Thank you for your help. What I do not understand is why I can load from my camcorder on to the hard disc and then burn on to a CD using Nero.Yet,when I use Ulead to adjust the video and then try to burn it Nero will not accept the result. Any Ideas please or am I wasting my time with Ulead. Ian C

When you edit the video in Ulead and save the project, it just creates a project file which contains information about the changes you want to make. You need to render the project to a video file, which creates a new file with the changes. Nero can then burn that file to a disk.
-
Hi. My problems seem to occur after the rendering process. It is then that Nero will not accept the detail

Which Ulead program are you using, and what file type are you rendering the project to? It should give you a choice of mpg, avi, wmv, etc. or to create a disk image.
If the file size is only 15kb, that sounds like the project file, not an actual video file.

Guitarman is right, a proper video file will be at least 100's of MBs and even more.
I'm a Ulead expert, so tell me what you are doing step by step and I'll put you right.
Here's a starter for you to check.
I presume you have Video Studio? What version?
When you capture from your camcorder make sure you are capturing in DV format (AVI)
When you have finished editing, go to the output step (Share) and select create disc, then DVD.
There are various options for different sizes of files.
It will then render and output directly to a DVD writer if you choose this option.
Regards.
