Outlook attachments and links in mails
My PC did not like me being on holiday for five weeks and now will not let me open attachments. When I try to open an attachment it freezes and I have to End Task and reopen Outlook. To read an attachment I save it, then use Word or Excel as appropriate to open the saved file.
Also Outlook freezes if I try to use a hyperlink within a mail.
I have defragged. Run Detect and Repair within Outlook. Today I bought Registry Mechanic and cleaned up lots of problems - but not this one!
I run CCleaner, Spybot and Ad-Aware.
Anyone any ideas as to what else I can do?
Thanks

When you did the Outlook Detect and Repair, did you select the options to restore shortcuts and default settings (I get this option in Outlook 2003 though they might not be there in other versions)? If you didn't select the available options, it would be worth running it again and getting it to restore as many of the original files and settings as possible.
Failing that, see if there is a service pack available for your version of Office by going to http://www.microsoft.com/office. You might find that the Detect and Repair process doesn't notice the problem but that updating some of your Outlook files to a newer version resolves it.
Let us know if that helps

Thanks DJ
Tried the detect and repair suggestion which regretfully did not work. I eventually tracked it down to Google Updater - uninstalled and at last I am back to normal. But thanks for your answer.
Thanks

That's interesting. Thanks for letting us know what fixed it
