Aghh! Urgent help needed, please.
Please can anybody help?
I’ve been using Nero 7 to compile DVDs with varied success over the past year. I have to say it’s one of the most unreliable pieces of software I’ve ever seen. However …
About a month ago NeroVision decided to only work with the latest project I’ve been working on. All of the other projects it listed in the opening page, but when clicked on NeroVision simply closed and I was returned to the Windows GUI. I could tolerate that given that I had finished with those projects, but now it also refuses to open my latest project (which I’ve worked on for hours!) and again immediately closes and reverts back to the Windows front screen. No error message is ever given. I’ve tried reloading Nero and wiping drivers but nothing seems to work. I’m running Norton, but I’ve tried Nero with Norton switched off.
Please tell me I haven’t lost all those hours. I’m even loathe to start all over again in case the same thing happens a few hours down the line.
Any help would be VERY gratefully received. Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Ajb,
I've been using Nero for many years now, first Nero 5, then 5.5, then 6, and 6 reloaded and I have found it to be very stable and reliable, so I don't believe any of your problems are actually due to Nero.
So, it must be the system, environment, or something you are doing.
I haven't used Nero Vision extensively as it's very limited, I use Ulead's DVD Workshop 2 which is much better but also more expensive.
Anyway, you probably know, but just in case you don't, that all video editors and DVD programs will save project files which contain links or shortcuts to the actual files on your pc.
Now, if you change the location of, or rename any of these files, or modify them in any way whatsoever, then the project file will not be able to open.
In more advanced programs you get a message saying the file section cannot be found and asking you to find it manually or type a link to it.
So, are you guilty of any kind of change to the underlying files?
Even an exact copy will fail because it will have the date you copied it, not the original.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
