When i insert a DVD and play it using Windows Media Player the application will show the most recent played DVDs, i would like to clear this view/cache.
any ideas?

Open tools/options and click on the privacy tab. Down the bottom you will see clear cd/dvd history, click the button and it should be gone. Don't know of a permanent option though.

next to that option there is an option to turn off monitoring, uncheck the check box and it will not save your file/dvd history
