    Changing file extension.

    Hi everyone.

I have a problem with photo extensions. I have asked before, but mislayed the information.

I have asked for some information on a woodwork forum. The guys there have asked me to send a picture. Today I have taken a photograph, loaded it onto my PC, and into Picasa2.

I would now like to add some text into the picture and change the photo to a ".JPG" file so that I can put it into my "Forum pics" Folder. Can someone tell me what I need to do please?

    "Thank you" in advance.

    ATB Gary.

Sorry for the lack of response.

Anyway after your edit (add text) you should be able to Save in any format.

During the Save process specify .jpg

If Picasa2 does not offer this option then just put the pictures into My Pictures and do it thru Windows.

When Saving to My Pictures specify .jpg

jephree, thanks for your reply, I'll give it a go.

What i have already done is, instead of saving my pics from camera to Picasa, I saved them, as you suggest, into "My pictures".

There is no, "SAVE" or "SAVE AS" in Picasa.

When I loaded Picasa, it imported all of my photos. If I delete Picasa will I still have all of my pictures on my PC?

I am not familiar with Picasa:

You should at least be able to manually move them into My Pictures using Windows Explorer. Open both Picasa and My Pictures and individually drag and drop or you could try Selecting all and Moving.
However if Picasa assigned a different file extension Windows might not be able to open it.

What is the file extension used by Picasa?

You can also change current File Associations via: start > control panel > Folder Options > File Types

Whether or not this works retroactively I am not sure.

jephree, I apologise, I got it all wrong. You can't save in Picasa, you can't even add text.

I wanted to add text to a picture which was in Picasa.
Picasa doesnt add text. So went into "PhotoPlus 6" and added the text there. When I saved the pic the extension was .Spp.
In checking what I had done, I noticed that in the "FILE" drop down menu there is a "SAVS AS", with the .Spp extension, and there is also a "SAVE ORIGINAL AS", which saves in the extension of the original.(Which is what I should have done in the first place).

I hope this all makes sense to you. All in all, problem solved.

Thank you very much for your perseverance.
