    MP3 and WMA

I've just purchased an MP3 player which also plays WMA.
Looking at various websites for information, it seems that the quality of WMA is better than MP3. So, using Windows Media Player 10 I ripped some tracks to WMA.

I'm finding a lot of album information which is recognised by Audiograbber (MP3 ripper) is not recognised or incorrect when using Media Player 10 which uses Microsoft's database.

Is there any significant difference between WMA and MP3 (both at bitrate of 192).

If so, can I get a WMA ripper which uses freedb for track informaton.

    Thanks,

    Rannoch

on WMP 10 you can select the album and alter the track listing, if you go to Rip >> find album info in the botton left hand corner you can search for the record if the track listing is different or you can edit it.

if you rip at 128kps it is still good quality and takes up less room than at 192

I found that in a number of cases Microsoft Media Player didn't find any of the track informaton even if it did find the album info. In a couple of cases where I had a double CD, the Microsoft database gave the same track info for both CDs.
    Audiograbber was consistantly correct.

I looked at another possibility, and found how to have Audiongrabber encode to WMA format, and that has cured the track information problem, and allows ripping to either MP3 or WMA options.
    Information found here ...
