Help with burning avi & mpg files
Hello. I have a DVD/CD-RW Drive on my computer. Is there any software available that will allow me to copy avi and mpg video files to a CD that I can watch in my DVD player? Or do I need a DVD-RW drive? Would appreciate any input you may have on this/ Thanking you in advance.

Hi Cassandra,
DVD players will not directly play either .avi or .mpeg files, no matter what disc you put them on.
However, you can make video CDs which use mpeg1 files but these will give you a quality of slightly less than VHS.
You will be much better making DVDs as these will give you much better quality and capacity.
There's a whole bunch of software with a wide range of complexities and prices, but if you're a begginner I'd go for something like Ulead's Video Studio.
You can see a description of it here:

It's good value at about £35. You might be able to pick up an earlier version, v8 or v9 cheaper and they'll also do the job.
I'm pretty experienced in video editing and CD/DVD creation so get back to me if you have any more problems.
Regards.
