I would like to change the author and company name default settings for all of the MS officesuite, any suggestions?

In Word, go to Tools > Options. Depending on which version you are running, it might be on the 'General' tab. Excel will pick up the same user name from Word as it's a shared office setting. As far as I recall, changing the company name requires a registry edit.
