Thumbs up Switching between to email addresses in Outlook 2000

Somebody help me!!!! I've been trying to figure this out for days now with no luck

Ok, I have a user who has two companies. How can I give them access to switch between their different email addresses when they send emails without having to switch their primary smtp in Exchange server?????

    Using outlook 2000.

Any help/ advice would be greeeeeatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Nicola

Hmmm, I might have come across a similar scenario in the network that I run but I'm not quite sure! Do both companies run through the same Exchange Server? If they do, could you give the user two mailboxes (each with its own email address) and then set them up with two Outlook profiles on the same PC, setting the Outlook option so that the user can choose the profile they want to use each time that they start Outlook?

Hope that helps (sorry it took a few days to get to you)

    Hey,

thanks for replying! I havent checked this for ages, but your help is appreciated.

The user wanted all emails to come into one inbox without having to change profiles.... talk about being fussy!!

I think I actually do what you are talking about in Outlook 2003 now. All of my mail comes into my single Outlook mailbox but, when I send mail out, I can choose from a number of accounts to use - each one uses a different email address and a different display name. You can do this in Outlook 2000 as well (although in a slightly different way). Did you get it sorted in the end or do you want to talk through the way that I have it set up to see if that works for you?

    Hi,

Guess what I sorted it!! Finally a light bulb went off in my head. I just created him as another user on exchange with the different comapny email address, then set up the forwarding so all email from the new email address goes straight into the inbox of his primary account. I also set up 'send as' permissions so that from his primary account he just has to type in the 'from' field the email he wants the recipient to see.

Hes very happy that we took out the profile swapping bit!

Would be nice to hear your solution.
    Nicola.

    Ah, good solution!

My mail all comes direct from the ISP as I haven't got around to setting up an Exchange Server yet so, in fact, the way that I do it wouldn't have worked for you anyway
