    Video Quality

    Hi all,

I wonder if any one can help. I have created a home movie in microsoft Moviemaker and when I play it back through windows media player the quality is fine, - the picture is a small box in the centre of the screen. However when I use DVD authoring software (such as DVD burning Express or smart dvd creator) to create a dvd to play on TV, the picture goes to full widescreen size and of course pixilization occurs and the quality looks poor. Even though the original video was capture with a video camera onto a memory stick - doesn't the quality stay sharp depending on how large the picture is ? - How do they do it for movies ???

Relating to the above, is there anyway you can force the dvd authoring software to create a small image in the centre of the TV screen so the quality remains good as opposed to "widescreening" the picture?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

    Dunky,
If you have captured from a video camera, the quality should be very good. It's normally 720 x 576 lines, which will provide a good full screen TV picture. (You can test this by playing your camcorder straight into the TV)
When you use Movie maker you need to select the quality you want.
If you are seeing a small picture in the centre of the screen you have probably selected something like video cd which is only 352x288 or you might have used something even smaller.
The solution is to set the options in moviemaker to produce an output file with a size of 720x576.
I don't use this s/w so I don't know where the "settings" will be, but they will be in there for sure.
Find them and you are in complete control.
    Regards.
