Hi all,

* I have a Brother fax machine using the same phone line as my PC, but a different jack.
* I am using an ActionTec modem for my DSL, with a phone line running from there to the PC--which has a fax modem.
* I have enabled the XP fax software in Windows Components.

I would like to be able to fax from my PC's modem, but when I try to send a fax from my PC,
it ends up going through, and out, the Brother machine.

Is there a simple, effective way to hook the phone lines up that will allow the Brother to serve as a stand-alone fax machine, yet at the same time allow me to be able to fax directly out of the PC?

I believe that I have heard, the new multi-function units, with USB connection will allow that,
but is there a way with this setup?
