Outlook express 6 works for a while then stops

Hi, recently i have been having problems with OE6. After i start my comp it seems to run fine and i send and receive message. then after a while it wont connect to the server, even though i have the connection time set at 300 seconds.

    I have win xp sp2, 40gig, 1.5 processor,
norton internet security 2006 (configured for oe6), spybot, spydoc, adaware, and a host of other updated software.

My setting are correct as ive checked them.
Just cant figure out why oe6 decides not to connect. Is my isp? or oe6.

    That is the question.

Are you continuing to have the problem?

    Thanks for replying.

Yes, outlook still has problems connecting to the server after i reboot. Its fine for about 1-2 hrs and then i get the connecting status for 5 mins (i increased the timeout), but no luck. I have to reboot again. I wonder if i turned of outlook in the task manager would that work, but i dont what process it is? I tried online to get it but i couldnt see what they said was oe6 anywhere.

    msimn.exe is O.E.

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main Identity.
Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity
    (File>Identities>Add new identity).
Assuming all is well, import messages from the old Identity before deleting it (File>Identities>Manage Identities).

Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose.

Also what Anti Virus are you running? Does it scan your e-mail. If so see what happens if you turn it off.

    Hi, thanks again for responding.

If I create a new identity, does that mean i have to create a new e-mail account?
If my account may be damaged, then why does work ok for a while then stop, only to work again after a reboot?

No. Just insert your same ISP data. It is just creating another user; a fresh version of O.E.

When you login with the new identity it will be as if logging on for the first time.

What I suggest is just troubleshooting options. As to why this or that I don't know.

By troubleshooting we can eliminate possibilities.

    For example my other questions:

Hi, Im running norton internet security protection 2006 which does scan all emails. I turned it off but still had the problem after a while. I did notice one thing however, the other day I went to check my mail expecting it to time out and it didnt. The comp had been on for over 12 hours connected to the net. the only thing different was that i was not running my file sharing program. I ran it and then tried oe6, after a while it stopped again. Not sure if its coincidence, any thoughts.

    thanks again.
