    Re: itunes

As this appears to be an iTunes issue we would have to search there. I do not know the program myself.

    Is this what you have:

Are you saying that all your files were separate individual files/songs; then iTunes put them into folders? Some folders containing multiple songs? By selecting "Organize"?

    ..............................
Just read your other post. I now see the setting you set. It basically creates folders etc.

I do not think moving the folder will change the settings.

I will try to search that site you linked to.

Have you tried unclicking "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" then rebooting your computer?

Looks like you've got 'Keep iTunes Music Folder organized' turned on. It's usually best if you let iTunes manage stuff. You can turn this option off if you want. This will not re-arrange your music for you. If you want to put it back you will have to do it manually.

I don't find anything short of reinstalling.

    You might try their forum:

so my options are to either reinstall it or do this

While 90 gig may take a while, a program like Tag and Rename or Tagscanner (my favorite) will put all of the files into whatever folder scheme you want, based on id3 tags.

    I don't know that program

nor iTunes but assuming that the iTunes folder works like a Windows Explorer folder you can one by one move the files where you want them.

To drag and drop just click/hold the file and move the mouse to where you want it and unclick/drop.

well do you think uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling it would help. because that would take way too long.

Uninstalling and reinstalling would give you a clean slate I believe.

I doubt that it would retain your data (library). I don't know if iTunes has an Import/Export feature.

You could try backing up the data but it would probably restore in the same format.

Just out of curiosity: what is the problem with the folder format?

uninstallin it did not work. i really don't want to do this manually. it will take forever! do you think if i delete all my songs and have my ipod just upload the songs agen itll be back to normal?

I do not know the program first-hand but I would assume the answer to your question is yes.

You might want to back up the files depending on their value to you.
