    normal.dot and word

When closing word I get a message box with "the file normal.dot already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file - yes no cancel".

I select NO, and get another message box "Changes have been made that affect the global template, normal.dot. Do you want to save these changes - yes no cancel"
    I select NO.

Same messages boxes again and exits.

    Could this be virus related?

Usually its not virus related, you could run a scan to make sure. You will find normal dot in C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. Delete it and then reboot your computer. Word will make a new one and the problem should disappear.

    Yep, that did the trick.

Must be going paranoid, seeing nasties around every corner, and it turned out to be a simple delete file.

    Thanks,
