e-mail attachments.
Hi everyone, nice to be back, had a lot on my plate lately. Hope you are all good.
Down to business:-
System: Windows XP pro, v2002, service pack 2
Intell Pentium III, 797MHz, 384Mb RAM
Outlook express 6
I have been trying to send some wedding photos via e-mail attachent. The first e-mail went through ok, so to make things easyer, (as I had a file size sending limit)I thought I would use the file breakup fetility with Outlook express, you just write message, attach pictures and send. The PC breaks up the message into bite size pieces and sends.
At the other end the pictures arrived in text code. The pictures sent had the .jpg extension. Then I sent each individual picture seperatly. I recieved mail stating the pictures where still in code. I thought it may have something to do with the file breakup fercility, so I dissabled that and tryed again. Still in code.
The guy at the other end has mailed me telling me to save the pictures into another folder as .jpeg files. I was under the impresion that jpg and jpeg where the same.
Can anyone advise me what to do next?
ATB, Gary.
PS I appologise for any funny spellings.

jpg and jpeg are the same. The format is JPEG-JFIF Compliant (jpeg, jif, jpg).
Have you thought about using something like Gmail, Yahoo mail or hotmail? They dont have such small attachment limits. Or you could upload them to somewhere like photobucket and the person on the other end can then view and save the pictures.

Hi Tassie.
Thanks for your reply.
I like the idea of Yarhoo mail etc. My PC was setup by a friend who has now moved away, so I have no idea of what to do.
Please, how do I go about setting up with Yarhoo, and is it a free mail?
Again, thank you for your help.

Hi Gary, just click on the link here and choose your username etc, country and all that. It will set up easily for you then you can start attaching the photos and emailing them.

Thanks Tassie.
I had a go last night, (I find that sort of thing rather confusing, I keep thinking I have done somthing wrong, or missed somthing out). I set it up so my e-mails are sent to my PC in Outlook express.
When I opened Outlook express this morning I received an error message as follows:-
Task
Check for new messages on "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk".
Errors
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
The password I used is the same as the yahoo one. I logged onto yahoo to check.
Do you or anyone else no why this is happening?
ATB, Gary.

Try this:
Open Outlook Express and select the Tools menu, then select Accounts.
Select the Mail tab and double-click the entry for your Yahoo mail account.
Select the servers tab and, if there is an entry in the Password field, remove it and de-select the 'Remember password' option. If there is no password listed, enter it into the Password field and select the 'Remember password' option.
Click OK on each screen to close out of it. Then use the Send/Receive Mail button to see if it makes any difference.

Hi DJ.
I removed the password as described, but still received the error message. I have now reinstated the password as described by yahoo initially.

Gary you can always just use it online with IE instead of getting OE to check it. I find it just as easy to log in online and send pictures. This way seems to be a lot faster than going through your service provider.

Hi Tassie.
Is there a way of setting up yahoo with an icon or somthing that I can just click on? At the moment I have to use my "Favorites" button. One other thing, since I have uploaded some pics into the yahoo mail account, I haven't been able to figure out how to view them myself. Any ideas.
ATB, Gary.

Gary you can upload them to your yahoo photo album here http://photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos You will have to sign in and then start uploading them.
Here is the help page for yahoo photos http://help.yahoo.com/help/photos/. Did you attach them to a message when you uploaded the photos? If so, just click on the message and they should be viewable.
Yahoo doesnt have a desktop notifier that I can see. If you right click on the icon in your favourites and choose create dektop shortcut, it will make the shortcut straight to yahoo mail.
