    TV Recorder Card?

    Hi all
    I'm looking for a way to record off TV or a TV style input such as a Sky Digibox, a DVD Recorder,a Freeview box etc. but became confused when looking at TV cards in PC World. Is it best to have a built in freeview tuner? I just want to be able to record from a TV source such as a VCR to the harddrive so I can then edit and burn to dvd. Why doesn't any tv card I've seen have a scart input? Can I save money by getting one (if it exists) that doesn't come with a built in tv or radio tuner? Why do they put FM radio tuners in TV cards when DAB and internet radio exist? I don't want to put unused useless gadgets in my pc. Sorry. Can anyone recomend a decent card to do what I described above?
    Thanks.

    Hi hersnab,

    If you'd rather save your PCI slots for something else there are several USB options including, but not limited to;

    Hauppauge, they have various USB WinTV 'tuners', most allow you to record direct from a domestic VHS player/tuner via a standard coax-in (some also have S-Video), as well as acting as a TV tuner (and, yes, the ubiquitous FM radio tuner).

    Miglias Director's Cut is slightly higher up the foodchain. An external (USB) box with Scart, composite & S-Video inputs. The resolution of this device is superior to the WinTV options.

    Good luck!

    Hello Devils_Advocate and thanks for the reply, I never realised you could have external options and the second option sounds like just what i wanted, I'll check them out and let you know how I get on. Thanks again.
