    WordPerfect Office 12 Address Book

WordPerfect 10 maintained large address books and printed envelopes just fine. Since installing WordPerfect Office 12 I no longer can access or create and save address books. When I try to access the address book I get this message "Initializing the 'name of book here' Address Book failed. This book will be removed". And the book is removed when you OK the messge (which you must do to continue) and there's no way to stop it. I have erased WP10 and still have the problem. WP12 does not support CorelCentral which in older versions controlled the address book files. Tried to import/export address files but that doesn't work either. Can't even start a new address book without it being erased as soon as I try to access it. Running XP Pro/Media Edition. Any help would be appreciated. WordPerfect had a great address file capability so that's why I purchased Office 12.
    Thanks

Hi there Hank! If you look in "Other Software" you will see I posted a query about the wretched Envelope Definitions on WP8 just yesterday. I have historically had problems with the Address book and Envelope Definitions in WP8..although when it does work properly it works well. It was a reason why some years ago I tried to upgrade to Version 10 and encountered the same problems as you seem to be experiencing. It seems that Version 10 doesn't seem to like Verison 8's data or whatever and throws a total wobbly when you try to re-create the Address book in the later version. So.. whilst it went enntirely against the grain to go backwards, I kicked out V10 and reverted to 8 and apart from the "regulation" glitches which inevitably happen from time to time with this application, it works well enough for government work!!

Its not any comfort to you.. but I suspect there is some kind of incompatibility between the two . Try (perhaps) to wipe the whole lot (keeping your data safe somewhere..like on another computer so that you can look at it for reference..which is what I have been doing in my present computer change circumstances...) ..and then re-load fresh from the start and enter in all the data manually and forget trying to copy it or transfer it. Its a very long winded way round and it shouldn't be like that..but in the end it might save you time and trouble and stress!!! Sometimes the long way round is the quickest!!

    Best.. Boeingman.

P.S.. to that last post.. my apologies.. I was thinking you were going from 8 to 10..but in fact I now realise you were going from 10 to 12..but i suspect the same thing has occurred.. or similar..an unaccountable incompatibility..

    Boeingman..
