Help, I need help on printing pictures.
Hi all,
I am on XP, and I have a Epson Stylus 870.
Every time I want to print a picture, I go onto print, but it resizes and crops the picture, thus cutting some of my picture off.
I have tried what I could think of but I'm no expert just a simple housewife, (not simple as in thick!! Ha Ha!!), trying to print out my pictures.
I would be most freatful if there was someone who could help me.
Many thanks.

have you done a print prieview? also what software are you using to print your pictures off? have you tried an alternative?

Hi,
I haven't tried a print preview, i'll do that now.
As for software.
I am a bit of a novice at this and wouldn't have a clue what i'm using.
I need help badly don't I ???.

HI,
The print preview shows that the picture fills the whole page.
Therefor it cuts off some of the picture as it crops it automaticly and I miss some of the vital bits.

i dont know if i am understanding correctly, when you tried a print preview, did it show the picture how you wanted it or was it cropped?
also, the name of the software should be at the blue bar at the top of the program:

Pammay,
It sounds like your image is simply bigger than a bit of A4 paper so you need to either use the "Fit to page" option in the Print settings box, or scale down (or "resize") the picture so that it is smaller than the page.
I'm not particularly experienced in image editing but I know that, in the Paint software that comes with Windows, there's a Stretch/Skew option on the Image menu. In there, you could, for example, "stretch" the image to 50% of it's original horizontal and vertical size in order to make it half as big as it was originally. That's likely to fit onto the page when you print it.
Microsoft Photo Editor has a "Resize" option on the Image menu.
All other image editing programs should have a similar feature.
If you can find out the actual image size (or "attributes") of the picture, that can allow you to calculate exactly what percentage to resize it to. A standard A4 bit of paper is 210mm wide x 297mm tall. Take off 10mm from each side for the margins and that leaves you with a useable area of 190mm x 277mm. So, for example, if your image is 380mm x 554mm, you would need to resize it to 50%.
Hope that helps

i dont use paint for printing images, i find that it puts them in strange places, like at the edge with half the page cut off or in the corner where it doesnt fit
